Carli Lloyd Talks about Her Hat Trick and World Cup Win

The celebration is still going on and keeping Carli Lloyd awake!

How could you sleep when the excitement is so high? It becomes even more difficult to stop celebrating when you're the soccer star Carli Lloyd who helped her team bag an impressive win in the final of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. She's earned the nickname "Captain America" after helping her team clinch a victory in a tournament the USA last won in 1999. Understandably, Carli has a lot to say about her experience.

One thing Carli said repeatedly was that her team wasn't playing for the second place. They were at the finals, held in Canada, to win it. And Carli felt there was something different about the team in the last few matches that made her feel the victory would be theirs. In fact, Carli mentioned that she imagined the same turn of events even before the start of the tournament. The star who made her debut for the US in 2005, claimed she had been visualizing herself celebrating a convincing win, and her dream came true.

The 32-year-old midfielder played a big role in making it happen. Carli Lloyd’s outstanding contribution to the memorable win was a hat trick completed within the first 16 minutes of the game and the final result was USA 5 - Japan 2.

She said that celebration has become their first priority after putting in a great effort on the field. She has also mentioned that things are so beautiful and exciting after the victory, and it became even better when she heard that US President Barack Obama had tweeted his congratulations also.

It is quite understandable why it is hard for Carli to sleep after such an outstanding win considering her team lost to Japan back in 2011. One thing for sure though is that this outstanding win and the energy it brought to the football field are an excellent advertisement for women’s soccer.
